30/08/2011 ACT6000 available from today in low-cost "base version".
The new ATEN's instrument is now available for the domestic and the international market with a special low-cost version by "Base Software 1.08".
The technical characteristics and the available functions are pointed-out on the following PDF document "ACT6000 - Characteristice & Funcionts" extracted from the User Guide.

12/02/2011 ACT6000 the new ATEN's Advanced Communication Tester will replace the ALT2000
starting from June 2011.
After 10 years of honored activity, ALT2000 leaves place to the new ACT6000 model.
Same winning case and lay-out of the first model, but new look, new display and many new functions on the ACT6000, analog/transmissive portable test instrument for wide applications on the telecommuniction world.
These the main news and/or implementation vs. the ALT2000:
- High contrast and resolution color display;
- Operative band up to 6 MHz (base version) and up to 30 MHz (VDSL) with the internal optional module;
- TDR Fault Locator with events storage, already available on base version;
- RFL by accurate Resistive Bridge (optional) for auto-localization of resistive faults;
- Ability to perform all the "Single End" measurements for line qualification without external device or PC;
- Master/Slave "End-to-End" function with analysis from both sides of the line (or AF channel) under test;
- Programmable Sweep Generator for various insertion-loss tests on AF channel and/or OCVD system;
- Facility to set separately the IN/OUT impedances of the Generator & Meter;
- Microinterruption analysis on every single frequency of the operative band;
- Analysis of the impulsive noise events on various weighed bands;
 and also:

28/08/2010 New release for ALT-SAPE Controller - PC Utility for Single-End Testing
with portable ALT2000, ALT2000-MDF and ALT2000-OEM in "SAPE" mode
After the big success of the PC utility for SELT measurements by single ALT2000 equipped with SAPE-KIT, it's now available a new release to improve the accuracy of some line tests when the End-of-Line (by TDR) is undetected. A powerfull matematical algorithm has been introduced on the software; it's now able to post-elaborate the raw data released by the portable ALT2000 o fix models (MDF or OEM) after the SELT measurement or the old memorized files (.dat).
By a special command, it's now possible to recalculate the End-of-Line by the "Capacitance" and "Q factor" values of the line under test.
Consequently also the Insertion-Loss, Noise (far-end), ADSL Bit-Rate and S/N Ratio are able to be performed with a better accuracy.

After a long period of designing based on a depth-study of the most recent service requirements in echosounders field, we are glad to inform you about the start of the production of the new “Echosimulator HXOS-V” that replaces the precedent “glorious” HXOS-IV and III, very appreciated from many world service labs. on its 30 years of activity.

01/02/2008 ALT2000-OEM - new Test-Head for electrical/transmissive tests
At the end of 2007 has been started the production of a particular version of our ALT2000.
ALT2000-OEM has been developed for satisfying the necessities to integrate some pre-existing diagnostic systems in the telephone exchange, and to integrate new test systems destined to the High Tech Street Cabinets of NG2 (the future optic/electric network).
ALT2000-OEM is currently in progress of experimentation in some MDF Exchanges of Telecom Italia that intends, with this new equipment, to optimize the maintenance of the copper pairs and performances monitoring of his access network (last miles) for the supply of the new IPTV services.
Same experimentation, promoted and followed by our distributor REDEX Telecom Ltda, it is in progress on some central ones of the two great Brazilian Telephone Companies.

28/12/2007 New release 4.00 for ALT-SAPE Controller - PC Utility
A new PC Utility for SELT provisioning (using a single ALT2000 or ALT2000-MDF in SAPE mode) is now downloadable from the Applications.html page.

These the new functions and features:

Noise: FEXT Noise prediction (cross noise estimated at end of line) by compute of local (CO) noise measurement transposed for line attenuation and cross-talk phenomenons.

Insertion-Loss: accuracy improvement for wide band Insertion-Loss estimation (interpolation up to 2.2 MHz).

ADSL Bit-Rate: evaluation using new post-processed noise & attenuation parameters and calculated on new standard (typical) DSLAM parameters (8 bit/Symb for ADSL; 15 Bit/Symb for ADSL2+ / 11 dB Noise Margin as first negotiation).

Signal to Noise Ratio: color histogram of activity prediction on 256 DMT channel for ADSL and 512 DMT channel for ADSL2+, based on re-computed S/N ratio.

Print: one button to print all tabular data and color graphs of transmissive multiple measurements.

CSV file; file data conversion in CSV format of all metallic data and graphic results of multiple measurements.

26/10/2007 New software release 6.07 for ALT2000
Update your ALT2000 with this new software using the ALT2000 PC Utility 6.06 downloadable from the Applications.html page

ALT2000 - Features in the SW Release 6.07:
This new software release improves and expands the some applications:

1) In the Menu 611 ("Advanced->High Band-> Generator & Meter"), by the use of key "#", level reading can be also seen in dBV, intended as dB relative to 0dBm @ 600 Ohm voltage (this supersedes point 2 of Release 6.06). The key acts as an on/off command for this reading.

2) In the Menu 611 ("Advanced->High Band-> Generator & Meter"), by the use of cursor keys "<- & ->" (valid only when RX Impedance is set High), it's now possible to set different values of reference impedances for the dBm reading.

3) Also if there isn't POTS option module and Menu 2 is greyed out, now it's possible to gain access to Menu 2 by using the numeric key "2". This permit to do audio measurements on telephone channels without the typical signallings (Line feed, Line Hook, Ring etc.).

12/01/2007 ISO EN 9001-2000 - Certification of the Quality System Management.
During the last months of 2006 new criterions of control and monitoring of the ATEN's technical operation (Design & Development, Production, Purchasing, Storing/Moving, Service, Commercial and Administration management) have been optimized to the ATEN's global quality improvement.
At the end of of December 2006 by the verifications and audits performed from highly qualified personal, IMQ-CSQ - Italy has released the certification related to the Quality System Management of our firm.
IMQ-CSQ are members of leading agreements for the issue of European (ENEC, HAR, CCA-EMC, KEYMARK, CECC) and international ("International EMC-mark" and IQNet) marks.
IMQ-CSQ belong to the CCA and CB schemes (international agreements reciprocally acknowledging tests), and are also a signatory of many bilateral agreements with bodies world-wide.
03/01/2007 Restructuring of the ATEN's International Distribution Network
With the meaningful commercial successes of ATEN reached in 2005 and 2006 we have decided to expand the market of our Communication Testers over the usual customer-areas and territories.
Although for Trend Communications U.K. (our historical partner) is still for 2007 reserved the distribution on some specific consolidated area-market, for many european and extraeuropean territories we are redefining a new distribution network characterized by suitable technical support and capillarity in the penetration toward all the TLC sectors that operates with carrying physical lines and similar for the audio & wide band data/comms.
14/12/2006 Award "INNOVALAZIO 2006"
ATEN is one of the 44 industries of the Lazio Region (Objective 2 areas) that have satisfied the technological innovation requisite by the proclamation announced by FILAS, promoted by the Region Lazio and financings by EU.
December 14 th 2006, c/o the Jolly Hotel in Rome, the plate (with user licence of the prestigious mark) has been delivered for the "Product Innovation"sector.
The "InnovaLazio" mark is a valid certification of the advanced level of innovation, assigned to a limited number of little or medium companies in the last 12 months.

ALT2000 - Features in the SW Release 6.06:
This new software release improves and expands the some applications:

- Generator & Meter:
- for level measurements on Base Band is allowed to select some selective filters (named Telegraphic Filters) with BW: 120, 240, 360, 480 Hz;
- for the level measurements on High Band / Unbalanced has been fixed the Reference Impedance at 75 Ohm when the High Impedance has been selected;
- between the two selectable measure units for signal level reading, "Volt" has been replaced with "dBV";

- Spectrum Analyzer:
- on Base Band is allowed to select various Reference Impedances when the High Impedance has been selected;

- Network Analyzer:
- On High Band is now enabled a special command for "Slow Sweep" signal generation (at 0 dBm output) for frequency response measurements, using a Spectrum Analyzer of another ALT2000 connected at the other side of the "line" and set on "Peak" (Sample & Hold) mode.

- Line Tests (End-To-End):
- for the ADSL2+ Bit-Rate evaluation compute has been fixed (as default) the "16 Bit/Symb" parameter.

"ALT-SAPE Controller (SAPE-KIT) - Release 3.80 "
For the full compatibility with the new ALT2000 software release (6.06) is necessary to use the new version of "ALT-SAPE controller" PC utility (release 3.80) to perform the SELT "Single End Line Testing" measurements using the SAPE-KIT option.
Warning !
With this revision of new PC utility the DAT files performed with the ALT2000 loaded with the previous software release (6.05 or previous) won't be decoded.

To up-date the ALT2000 with the new software release 6.06 and for full compatibility to files import and reading is necessary to use this new ALT2000-Utility version (6.06).
30/03/2006 ALT2000 is the Winner!

In the recent European competition for the supply of Signal Generators and Selective Level Meters announced by Terna S.p.A. (Italian Corporate for the Electricity Transport) the price/performances ratio of our ALT2000 "Advance Line Tester" results winning.
The Generator & Meter section and the Spectrum & Network Analyser of the ALT2000 will be used soon in Italy for specific trasmissive measurements on PLC (Power Line Carrier) and AF Digital Transmission on High Tension Electroducts.
Our solution has been adopted and highly promoted by a qualified national distributors team (Lizard S.r.l. of Trento and Tek-Up S.p.a. of Bologna) that with our innovative equipment has contemporarily been awarded the supply of the lott 1 and 2 of the aspired competition.
The motive for satisfaction doesn't evidently spring from the entity of the contract (86 units), but from the appreciation of the technical performances of the ALT2000 now also from this illustrious customer.
ATEN, in such way, magnifies subsequently the crop of his incessant activity on the innovation technology in the TLC diagnostic and it is wished that other corporate as Terna are able with ALT2000 to adjourn in one solution the old transmissive testers.
10/02/2006 New software release 6.05 and new PC Utilities for ALT2000

ALT2000 - Features in the SW Release 6.05:
This new software allows to expand the applications of instrument as Selective Level Meter & Signal Generator.

1) Now the Menu 611 (Advanced->High Band-> "Generator & Meter") can be used in 4 Wire mode both Balanced and Unbalanced (also for tests on coaxial cables).
In Unbalanced mode each input and output impedance is divided by 2, as follow:
Output impedance (bal.) : <1, 93, 100, 110, 120, 135, 150, 200, 300, 600, 1350 Ohm.
Output impedance (unbal.): <1, 47, 50, 55, 60, 68, 75, 100, 150, 300 Ohm.
Input impedance (bal) : 93, 100, 110, 120, 135, 150, 200, 300, 600 Ohm and >600 Ohm.
Input impedance (unbal.): 47, 50, 55, 60, 68, 75, 100, 150, 300 * and > 300 kOhm.
Input and Output levels are corrected (in dBm) for the new value of the impedance.

2) In the same menu, by the use of key "#" of keypad, level reading can be also seen in linear scale (µV, mV, V) with autorange.
The key acts as an on/off command for the linear reading.
In linear reading it isn't possible to switch in relative mode.

3) Always in the same menu (but also for all automatic single frequency measurements made in high band), the RX Band filters are changed to the following frequencies: 25/100/200/400/1740/3100/4000/8000 Hz.
This isn't only a frequency band change, the filters are all improved (in particular for noise measurements), and now the BW value is exactly coincident with the noise bandwidth.

4) Also in the Menu 612 ("Advanced ->High Band-> Spectrum Analyzer") by the use the special command is now possible to change the input impedance for unbalanced measurements (on coaxial cable) dividing by 2 the default impedance, as follow:
Input impedance (balanced) : 93, 100, 110, 120, 135, 150, 200, 300, 600 * and >600 Ohm.
Input impedance (unbalanced) : 47, 50, 55, 60, 68, 75, 100, 150, 300 * and > 300 kOhm.

Notes:
- For coaxial cable connection is now available the new "Banana/BNC (f) Adapter" (ALT-16 option).
- For this news, for PC data managment is suggest to use the new ALT Utility 6.05.

ALT-SAPE Controller 3.70
PC Utility for SELT "Single-End-Loop-Testing", here the main news:

1) For the Collection Measurements, is now possible to select any Line Type (transmissive masks):
ISDN, HDSL 1P, HDSL 2P, E1, T1, ADSL G.LITE, ADSL 2M, ADSL FULL, ADSL2+, SDSL, G.SHDSL.

2) By special algorithm, using DC/AC Capacitance and Q factor measurements, is now possible to detect and display (by flag-message) the number of standard telephone (or similar devices) eventually connected to the end of the line (user side).
